. Hawkes Bay, always a dry province between the stations mentioned at this time of year, has experienced a particularly dry season, and stock has been selling at very low prices. The unusual shortage of feed was very evident to those visiting Hawkes Bay during: the earthquake period,, both the condition of stock and their listlessness attesting to the lack of feed on the baked hillsides of the pastoral area.
