A SLIGHT UPLIFT

REPORT FROM THE M'ATAI

Tho Marine Department received a report to-day from the Government lighthouse steamer Matai, which, in addition to carrying out her usual work of attending to the coastal lights in the course of her North Island tour, is taking soundings in Hawkes Bay. The Matai reported that she had completed the work of taking soundings in the vicinity of the Napier approaches, and had discovered a slight uplift close in-shore only. It is not known definitely what courses the Matai followed, and a fuller report is expected to-morrow. , ,
