INFLUX OF UNEMPLOYED
STRINGENT RESTRICTIONS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, This Day. The weather in Napier continues fine and sunny, and there was an absence of tremors in the early hours of this morning. | The work of demolition is proceeding. Mr. G. 0. Morse, chairman of the Citizens' Committee, has issued the following statement:— "Owing to the influx of unemployed into Napier the committee has found it necessary to take the following stops to deal with the problem in future: No persons others than those on authorised legitimate business and in possession of a permit to return issued by the Refugee or Relief Committees will be permitted to enter the borough of Napier. Every passenger coming to Napier by car must have his or her individual permit. All traffic is now being" checked on both road and rail. Others than those mentioned above will be turned back at the barriers."
