UNTOLD WEALTH
THE SOUNDS OF OTAGO
REPORT BY GEOLOGISTS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVEKCAEGILL, This Day. A party of geologists, consisting of Professors Benson (Duncdin), Bertram! (Auckland), King (Wellington), and Koblo (Melbourne), have returned from a six weeks' expedition in Preservation and Chalky Inlets, and the West Coast Sounds by the ketch Scout, bringing a large quantity of specimen" for analysis. Professor Keble said:".From my researches I have come to the conclusion that there is untold wealth in auriferous metals in the Sounds, but to wrest the treasure from Nature work will have to lie carried out under scientific methods. The indications and reefs mot with are exactly similar to the gold-bearing area of Australia. \n no part of New Zealand is there such promise of rich results being obtained as in the vicinity of Preservation Inlet." Ho suggests that a number of men should lie employed making tracks to open up the inaccessible regions.
