PLEASING TO MR. MUNTZ
Mr. T. G. A. Muntz, who has come to New Zealand from London to act as assistant to His Majesty's Trade Commissioner in Wellington, arrived this morning by the Ulimaroa from Sydney. His first impressions of New Zealand, he said, were most pleasing, and he was greatly struck with the grandeur and beauty of the harbour* He was looking forward, he said, to a lengthy stay in New Zealand, and was eagerly anticipating the trout fishing, a sport of which he was very fond. Economic questions and similar subjects Mr. Muntz was not inclined to discuss, saying that he preferred to be a little longer in the country bofore venturing an opinion. He did, however, remark that as bad as things might seem in England, they were apparently worse in some other countries. New Zealand, he trusted, would be able to pull through without matters getting any worse.
