TPJI3UTE TO GOVERNMENT
The I*rime Minister (the Eight Hon. G. W. I Virbes) has received the following lettc from the Hawkes Bay County Council, --under (Into of 10th February: —
"I hi ivo the honour to inform you that the > Hawkes Bay County Council, at its i meeting yesterday, resolved to thank you and the Government and its officials for the help being rendered to Hawkes Bay during the earthquake disaster. —A. H. Ferguson, County Clerk."
Mr. F orbes has replied: "I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your let ter of 10th inst., and desire to express to the Hawkes Bay County Council luy sincere thanks and also that of the Government for the kind cxpressii uns conveyed in respect of the services performed by the Government and its ( officials during the recent earthquake di toaster." Gratit' tide for the services rendered by the "V Wellington City Council and the citizens of Wellington was expressed to the Maj i»r of Wellington (Mr. G. A. Troup) 1 >y Mr. Morse, chairman of the Napier Citizens' Earthquake Executive, dur ing Mr. Morse's visit to Wellington ;it the week-end. Mr. Morse specially referred to the work (lone by Mr. F. i ST. Thompson and Mr. E. E. M'Killop ], of the City Council staff.
