HOUSING REFUGEES
ACCOMMODATION FOR FAMILIES
Many people have telephoned the Bed Cross organisation in reference to tho notice appearing in Saturday's "Post" indicating that accommodation for children was still required. Tho society lias ample available accommodation for mothers or parents travelling, with families of up to six or eight children. Assuming that there are still refugees coming to the city, it would be of considerable help to the Bed Cross billeting officers if residents in different areas could arrange groups of neighbours who would be willing to take a complete family between them. If any such arrangements can be made, one resident in oach group (preferably with a telephone) who would be responsible for the reception of the family should communicate to the Thorndon refugee station (telephone 43-138). This, would aid the scheme of keeping members of refugeo families in close contact with one another, whilst at the same timo the tax on individual householders would be lessened.
