LONDON, 14th February. Tlio "Financial News" says that the Commonwealth Bank's refusal to assist inflationary measures was well received in banking circles in London, and is regarded as thn lirst move towards public economy and retrenchment. It is believed that; the banks acted in |
close co-opcratiou with the trading banks, who, it is anticipated, will shortly officially endorse Sir Bobert Gibson's attitude. It is hoped that the position will be cleared speedily, in view of the bill maturing oil 2nd March.
