OUTING FOR PATIENTS

ST. JOHN NURSING GUILD

A.very pleasant afternoon was spoilt at Heretaunga recently by a number of the sick and needly who are looked after, by the St. John Nursing Guild, Mrs. W. Young acting as hostesss. A delicious afternoon tea was served on small tables set out on tho lawn, after which the gardens and tho scenery were visited, and all much admired. Some of the guests were driven to and fro in a bus, and those who were not so well were taken in cars driven by different members of the committee. The combined thanks of the guild sisters and patients were accorded Mrs. Young, who had given them such a happy time.

1 At a meeting of the Nursing Guild Committee, held later, it was interesting to find that many more people are coming forward to the help of the sick poor. Most of tho Bibles classes in Wellington gave very handsomely towards the Christmas dinners, which were very much enjoyed by all. It is very encouraging to tho workers to have such kind practical interest shown. The following subscriptions have been received:—Mrs. Corrigan and Mr. W. B. Fisher, £1 Is each; also donations of £1 Is from Mrs. Corrigan for Christmas funds, and 10s from Miss Donaldson. The sisters and committee also gratefully acknowledge donations of clothing, foodstuffs, toys, flowers, and literature from:—Mesdames Faulkner, G. Wilson, W. Young, G. Barltrop, E. Luke, C. Smith, H. Smith, Harris, J. Kirkcaldie, Ardrey, Williamson, Addelley, Bich, Holmes, Bogers, Doctor, Townley, Bcaman, Selig, Ballard, and Osbornc, Misses Page, Pengelly, Joan Millar, Price, and Daniolls, D.1.C., Young Ladies' Guild, Toe 11, Island Bay Ladies, Anon. (3), and Lady Myers.
