A GARDEN PARTY

FUNCTION AT MIKAM'AR

Although the. weather was not of tho best on Saturday afternoon, tho garden party given by Mr. and Mrs. A. D;> Crawford at their homo at Miramar was a very plcasnnt function. Tho house- and grounds are well sheltered from the south, and with many trees acting as shelters as well it was possible to wander round the beautiful garden and have tennis and other games very enjoyably. Garden-lovers had much pleasure iii seeing tho fine varieties of "now" hydrangeas, the late-flowering roses (which arc- iv great beauty), tho ponds with waterlilies, rock gardens with many unusual plants, wide lawns, and pretty bushy paths. Some sunshine would certainly have been an ridded joy. In tho house there were more beautiful ' flowers, bright fires, and comfortable nooks for chatting with friends. Tea was served outside in a sheltered verandah while a band discoursed pleasant music nearby. Mr. and Mrs. Crawford received their many guests, Mrs. Crawford wearing a costume and coat of honny-coloured silk, with a wide black hat.
