SUPERANNUATION
PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD
The quarterly meeting of the Public Service Superannuation Board was held at the boardroom, Wellington, on Thursday, Mr. J. H. Jerram presiding in tha unavoidable absence of Mr. J. W. Maodonald. . ■ Forty-four contributors retired by reason of age or length of service were granted allowances of a total of £9320 per annum, and four contributors retired as medically unfit were granted allowances totalling £553 per annum. The board refused to grant allowances in three cases, and ia five cases consideration was deferred pending receipt of further information. Twenty-two widows and 12 children were granted the statutory allowances amounting to £994 per annum. ■ Under the Finance Act of last session; there are special provisions for granting retiring allowances to those officers of the Defence Department who are compulsorily; retired not later than the 31st March,' 1931. Sixty-three contributors were ra« tired thereunder with allowances aggregating £8558 per annum.
