WHERE DO ELEPHANTS DIE?
.One of the., mysteries of Africa is ' Vhere elephants~gd wheiithey feel they ■ are dying. The huge animals live to a great age, several hundred years at least; but there at last comes a time . when they get old. Then in most cases ■ tho^ disappear into the depths of the forest and are.never seen again.*; , It is not quite true to say that no ' fine has over come across a dead elephant in. Africa, for a certain number die on their way to what must be tho : most extraordinary cemetery in tho world. Here, in some spot, which has iievor boon visited by man, there must be tho skeletons of thousands and thousands of clophunts. Jilvory now and then parties of men start to seek fqr the elephant cometery, because here there- would.be enormous numbers of tasks, tho ivory from which is very : valuable. ■ Up to the present the dying plaeo of j the.elephants, has not yet been dis- , *overed> but probably it will be found Some day. It has been suggested that ■an aeroplane might be used to locate ' positions and this would seem to , 1$ *■ very good way of finding ont the » ffcee la which 'the elephants go to die.
