MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. E. Page, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Charged with assaulting James Lang Stewart, - Jack Bramich, a fireman, aged 31, was fined £10. It was stated that the, accused struck Stewart oh the shoulder with^an axe, and that the wound required several Btrtches. ~.','. Pleading guilty,to. a charge of being an idle and disorderly person with insufficient lawful means' of support, William Percy Old, alias Percy Nixon, a labourer, aged iO, was is.entenCcd to three months', imprisonment.. .It. was stated, that the accused had done little or no work for a long time, arid had been drinking a good deal. He was also, a methylated spirits l^Oh a'eharge of stealing 16s 6d, the property'bf Nicola Lunjeyic, Albert Saunders, alias1 John Burke, alias Williams*; aged 47, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment. ,■■•:■'''' ,''"•' On a charge of breaking and entering the counting house of Arthur Dodd and stealing a safe and contents, of a total value of £8, Daniel Minahan, a quarryrnan, aged 50, was committed to the Supreme. Court for trial. The accused pleaded not' guilty.'. . ~ • . Ethelbert Coleman, a cook, aged 30, appeared on six charges of obscene exposure. After the evidence had'been heard, the Magistrate sentenced-! Coleman, for whom Mr. W. E. Leicester, appeared, to two months' imprisonment on the first charge, and ordered him .to come up for sentence if called upon in twelve months on each of the other charges.
