AUSTRALIAN SPRINTER
DUE ON TUESDAY,
The Australian sprint champion, J. A. Carlton, who is to meet the noted American, George Simpson, at the big sports meeting to be held at Athletic Park on j 21st February, is leaving Sydney to-mor-row by the TJlimaroa for Wellington. He will arrive here on Tuesday morning, and •will be met by representatives of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre and the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. ' On Tuesday evening Carlton will tie the guest of the Wellington Boxing Association at the boxing match at the stadium, and will be introduced from the ring to spectators. He is to be tendered a reception by the Marist Brothers' Old Boys' Association on Thursday evening, when a presentation will be made to him. On Friday Carlton and the three American athletes will be entertained by the Wellington Centre at afternoon tea, at which tho Mayor has been asked to ''preside. Box plans for the meeting on 21st February, which should be a memorable one, opened this morning at "Ned" Perry's tobacconist ' shop in Manners street.
