WELLINGTON CENTRE

A meeting of the Wellington Centre N.Z.A.S.A. was held on Monday, the chairman, Mr. P. Coira, presiding. - The programme and officials for tne Worser Bay Club's carnival on the 28th instant were approved. The Khandallah Club was granted affiliation, subject to complying with the necessary conditions. A report from Mrs. Price regarding the junior and intermediate championships was approved, and it was decided to convey thanks to the Ashburton Centre for the kindness extended to local competitors. Arrangements were made for the centre championships, which take place on Saturday next. Remits for the annual conference were drafted as follows: (1) That the junior and intermediate championships for the 1931-32 season be granted to the Wellington Centre; (2) that the New Zealand Council be asked to make representations! to the Government with a view to empowering local bodies to create safety zones at all open bathing resorts, and authority to enforce local restrictions; (3) that an intermediate girls' diving championship, and a 100 yards boys' backstroke championship be iffistituted. Messrs. P. Coira and N. M'Cartney were appointed delegates to the annual conference.
