FATAL CRASH

DEATH INVESTIGATED

The death of Cyril Herbert Olsen, the Auckland Aero Club pilot who was killed in a crash at Mangere, has been investigated by a Court, consisting of Squadron-Leader L. M. Isitt, SquadronLeader J. Seabrook, and Flight-Lieu-tenant S. Wallingford, and.its decision was announced yesterday by the Minister of Defence (the Hon. J. G. Cobbe). , In the opinion of the Court, death was due to an uncontrolled dive from 2500 feet. "The cause of the dive cannot bo definitely ascertained," stated the finding "but it is considered there is a possibility that the pilot collapsed, as no attempt was made to throttle, back or switch off the engine. The flight path of the machine was such as to be consistent with this happening."
