YACHTING

WORSER BAY CLUB A race was held by the Worser ; Baj^ Club on Saturday over the club's lisusfl northerly, wind course, of about .thre^ miles. The wind was a moderate nortH* erly, varying to a fresh, breeze at times* Of seven starters the O.K. Baby, with 4 handicap of 6min, won. The Spitfire^' whose mainsail was carried away prior toj the race, flew a very small piece of canvas^ and was given 18min. The system of start* ing adopted at Worser Bay differs from, the method used at regattas, where alt boats are started off together and thai handicaps allowed for at. the finish. A% the bay, the limit boat is first to leave, an<J the scratch boat last, with the , otheij boats spaced in between, according tt^ their handicaps. The result is that fu'»| boat to finish wins. The Ngaroma soon overhauled the Spit* fire,- and maintained a good position! throughout the race, although the Ngaru! almost caught her. The O.K. Baby-(6min.)j found the breeze ideal, and it is hoped; that G. Rowntree, who sailed her, willl prove as good a yachtsman as his twaj brothers. The Demon, with 2min, was uix able to. fly ; a spinnaker, and the Eiv/i (scr)j passed her on the second run over, and^ working into second place, very nearly worked a little further, being a neat 2se«| behind the O.K.
