JOHNS BEATS H. LECKIE

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 26th January. The professional lightweight boxing championship of New Zealand changed hands to-night when Harry Johns, of Auckland .(9st 5y 2 lb) defeated the holder, Hector Leckie, of Otago, on points at the end of the full fifteen rounds. Johns gave the more scientific display, leading eaaily over the first few rounds. Leckie asserted himself during the middle stages, but the Aucklander came again in the last three rounds to score a popular victory. This was Johns's debut as a professional.
