WEDDINGS
The marriago was celebrated this afternoon at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral of Esme Joy, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs: W. F. Sloman, Tinakori road, Wellington, and John Denly, second son of Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Agar, Melbourne. The ceremony was performed by tne Yon. Archdeacon Johnson. The church was decorated for the occasion with hydrangeas, in varying shades of blue, and pink phlox. The bride's frock was of heavy parchment satin, the bodice, which was close fitting to the hips, having a diamond-shaped piece inset in tho front. At the. back the waistline was marked with several rows of rucking. The skirt was very full, and fell to the ground. Tho train, which hung from the hips, was made m two diamond-shaped pieces, the points being embroidered with true lover s knots in perals. Her veil of beautiful old Brussels lace was caught with a circlet of orange blossoms, and she carried a sheaf of Madonna lilies and primuliuns. Tho bridesmaids were Misses Dinah Sloman (chief), Phyllis Agar (Melbourne), Nell Bayley (Hastings), and Betty Parr. Their frocks were of palest pink organdie, the skirts, which fell from a very high waistline, liavino- wide hems of deeper pink embroidered on with tiny blue and pink flowers. Tho short bodices were Imished with cape collars, which were also edged with a band of deeper pink, and were caught in front with tiny posies of forget-me-nots. Their blue crinoline straw hats had wide drooping brims with a flat ribbon bow under.one ear. They carried Victorian posies of blue and pink flowers. Mr. D. Begg (Melbourne) was best man, - and Messrs. Frank Cole (Melbourne), Pat Whytc, and Warwick Blundell groomsmen. After the ceremony' a reception was held at the Adelphi Cabaret, where Mrs. Sloman received the guests wearing a smart frock of deep sapphire blue gorgctte made with a bolero bodice and a two-tiered skirt. Touches of beige georgette appeared at-the neck and wrists. She wore a wide-brimmed fe't hat of the same colour. Miss Sommervillo's black satin frock was made with a coatee, and trimmed with coffeecoloured lace, and she wore a wide black hat. Miss Clara Sloman waa in black georgette and a black pandan hat. The cabaret was decorated- with sweet peas, carnations, and hydrangeas, the bride's table being particularly attractive. Tlic pink wedding cake was surrounded by a ring oi! deep blue and deep pink hydrangeas, carnations, and maidenhair fern. The decorations were carried out by . the .bride's aunt, Miss. Sommnrville. ■ The brido's going away frock was of f orget-mo-not blue crepe de chine, with_ a three-quarter coat, and she wore a tiny felt hat high off the forehead and finished with a fiat bow of the felt.
