SCULLIN AT CANBERRA
"I WILL PLAY MY PART"
NOT TO BE STAMPEDED
CANBERRA, 20th January. Upon arrival at- the Federal capital today the Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, was cordially welcomed by 52 local societies. Ho declared;- "I will play my part. I will not be stampeded by any criticism from, any quarter. People who want magic must get a wizard." Ho warned the Public servants that public revenue had fallen by upward of £ 120,000,000; therefore expenditure must come down. \ "We must not bo panic-stricken and led into experimenting with things unless we are sure they-are sound." ■Mr. Scullin intends for the time being to continue as Treasurer, and all arrangements for the Federal caucus next Tuesday have been completed, despite the opposition of the N|(3W South Wales branch of the Labour Party.
