The opening day of the Wellington "Racing Club's Summer Meeting was held yesterday in stormy weather. The track was soft and slow, but it did not cut up^ badly. The attendance was considerably below what had been' expected, and the totalisator turnover of £28,700 10s compared very unfavourably with the £48,093 10s put through on the first day last year.
