Odlin's building in Tarairaki stret* 1 last night, Thomas Maguire, aged 55, an<^ ■ Robert William M'lnlyre, aged 41, wertf 1 charged with being unlawfully on tha, , premises, and pleaded not guilty. Maguir^ 1 said he had work to go to, and M'lntjr^ stated that he was leaving the towri to-day. A third man, Eichard Hertr* O'Connell. aged 51, pleaded guilty,- an» he and M'Tntyre, both of whom "have lon* lists of previous convictions, were, ser* tenced to three months' imprisonments Maguire was given a chance to go baclc to work, and was convicted, and ordered* to come up for sentence if called upbif withiu six months. .-"This man's record is not a good on* . . . and I am unable to extend probation. to him," said the Magistrate in sentencing Horace Smith, alias Harry Smithy to three months' imprisonment on each of three) charges of theft. The sentences are to be* concurrent. The thefts were of overcoat* and a rug, taken from motor-cars park<w in city streets on the night of 10th Jam* ary. The accused had been before that Court for a number of offences. -Mr. A t B. Sievwright, who appeared for- Smith* said the offences were committed while' the accused was under the influence ofj.
