PROSPECTS FOR TO-MORROW

(By Kangitira.").

Prospects are for fine weather for the second day of- the Wellington Eacing Club's Summer Meeting at Trentham tp-morro.w, and as a result of the excellent fields that have accepted the racing should be of an interesting and closely-contested nature. Tho track will probably still be soft, but should be firmer than yesterday, as the water drains away quickly on the Trenthain course. i ■ Fresh blooilin Mister,. Gamp, Trishna, and Dumblane is likely to jilay a prominent part in the Mangaroa Highweight Handicap, and the form horses, Tunbridge and Avro, will be troubled by the best of the newcomers. A couple who should race well are Mister Gamp and Tunbridge. The Trial Plate also contains several new names, among whom there aro possibilities in Ephialtes, Appledore, and Saltpot. Jaloux, however, should account for them. A likely pair are Jaloux and Saltpot. Several good milers are down to contest the January . Handicap, and good races should be coming from First Acre, Vertigern, Black Duke, Love Song, Cadland, and Caterpillar. The best may be Vertigeru and Love Song., Best form in the Nursery Handicap is held by the- A.J.C. Breeders' Plate winner, Movie Star, and the race should not, be beyond him, in', spite of his weight. Solvent, Dulen, Fedora, and Distortion are probably his most, dangerous rivals. Two who should show up: aro Movie Star and Distortion. ; .. The' topweights appear to hold the key to the situation in the Wellington Bacing Club Handicap, and of them Gay Crest may do the best, for he was somewhat unlucky in the way he was ridden yesterday. Lady Pam is a possibility lower down. Good performances should be registered by Gay Crest and Nightmarch. » One of the hardest races of the day to solve is tho Douro Cup,> for which a big field will parade. 'Support is likely for Arisus, Playground, Ball Dress, Toliaecoland, Bosshire, and Hawkshaw, and the3 r read to have the best prospects. Lady Bene, Fitzquex, "and Spearful, however, are all possibilities. A good pair may be Tobaccoland and Playground. The issue in the Metropolitan Handicap is very open, and. among those who must be reckoned to have good chances are Meadow Lark, Bayaere, Gesture, Palermo, Compensation, and .Havaspot. It is difficult to reduce this.number, but the two who nlay show out most conspicuously are Gesture and Havaspot. ■ The Camp Handicap, like all hack events at Trentham, provides a puzzle, but yesterday's running suggests that Tobaccoland (if reserved), Trojan Melody, Solmar, Adclphi, and Craigavon should go well, and a couple of newcomers in Charmcuse and Boyal' Eoutine are also possibilities. True Shaft is another who has only to run up to track form to be distinctly dangerous. Best may prove to be Solmar and Charmeuse. (
