SPEEDWAY CONTESTS
NOTED RIDERS COMPETING
Big attractions at the Kilbirnie Stadium Speedway on Thursday night will be the appearance of Guy Menzies, the airman who recently flew across the Tasman, and of "Squib" Burton and George Greenwood, the British test riders, who have been breaking records on other tracks iv the Dominion. The meeting should be the most notable y6fc held locally, and it will give" the Wellington publje a good opportunity of welcoming the hero of the Tasman flight, and of seeing him as a broad 1 slder, in which role he was a conspicuous competitor on Australian speedways. "Squib" Burton ranks as a world-beater, and he is the fastest rider that has ever come to New Zealand from overseas. It was Burton who was mainly responsible for England's success over Australia in the series of Tests on the speedways in England last season. . With these noted riders in action, the local champion, W. Kilmister, will be put to his greatest test. Burton and Greenwood are to meet Kilmister and Tonks in special match races, 'and with these four in the "Big Nine" there will be Palmer, Naylor, Phillips, Harvie and Hamberger. Other competitors at the meeting will be Higgins, Grove, Mangham,- Viggars, Lucehesi, Pratt, Hunger, Roberts, Eadcliffe, App.leyard, Spencer, Kichards, Hooper, J. and A. C. Watt, Usher, and Trilford.
