PICTON EXCURSION
Among the attractions for holidaymakers on Anniversary Day (Thursday, 22nd January) will be an excursion by the turbine steamer Maori to Picton. She is to leave the ferry wharf at 8 a.m., and after a run of which half is w tU* calm waters of Wellington Harbour or th» Marlborough Sounds, she is due at Pietoa about 10.45 a.m. A connecting train wi^;leave Picton for Blenheim, and wiil return to Picton before she leaves again. Special launch trips to interesting spots in the Sounds have been arranged., and excursionists will be able to obtain lunch and 'hot water at some of the places visited. Those who do not take-any of these extra trips'will find plenty to interest them about the port. The Maori will start on her return trip a little after 2 o'clock, and should be alongside the Wellington wharf again before 5^30.
The American athletes have accepted the invitation of the Hutt Valley Swimming Club to attend the carnival to be held in the Riddiford Baths, Lower Hutt, to-mor-row night.
Messrs. Ramsey Wilson and Co. will sell furniture and effects at 1.30 to-morrow at No, 7, Buller street.
