PETONE-HUTT CAS BOARD

The Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board met last night, Mr. W. G. Loddor presiding.

The report of the works manager (Mr. 0. Shaw) for December stated that 1Q.057,----000 cubic feet of gas had been manufactured from 702 tons 14 cwfc of coal carbonised, giving an average make per ton o£ 14,348 cubic feet. The average calorific value of the gas was 474 B.Th.U., and the increased make over December, 1929, was 3,262,000 cubic feet. Coal, tar, and coke in stock on Ist January amounted:to 286 tons 15 cwt, 13,826 gallons, and 318 tons 4 cwt respectively. ■ . , .

Reporting on the work of the diatribu-' tion department, the inspector (Mr. 0. Silbery) stated that there .were installed in December 30 new. services. 28 cookers, i coppers, 4 caliphonts, 1 gas fire, 1 hotteatot, and 2 hot-plates.
