PAYMENTS EXCEED RECEIPTS (British Official Wireless.) KTIGBY, 18th December. The Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Mr. F. W. Pothick-Lawrenee, in a written reply in Parliament, states that the total sums paid to the United States Government on account of the British war debt, including the payment made last Monday, exceed to date the total sums received by Britain in respect of the Allied war debts and reparation by the amount of & 140,000,----000. The accumulated deficiencv is close on £200,000,000 if the interest on past payments and receipts is taken into account.
