ON HAWERA TRACKS
HAVERING L\ T GREAT HEART (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") HAWERA, This Day. The Hawera horses are all well forward for their Christmas engagements, weather and track conditions facilitating their speeding up. J. Brown leaves on Monday for Auckland, taking Silvermine and Awaken. The former will be the stable representative in the Railway, and is to be' ridden by R. S. Bagby. Awaken is to be reserved for the sprint events on the remaining days, Silvermine running in events over a longer distance. Both horses are very J well, Silvermine especially, and if the conditions are to his liking lie will be hard to dispose of in his races. Havering is looking in great condition, and is to race at the Manawatu Meeting on Boxing Day and at the Stratford Meeting at the New Year. 0. Cox is taking Hampden, Double Red, and Isa to Awapuni. All three have been shaping well ou the tracks, and look like doing well in their engagements. Apprentice jockey J. M. Pine is to ride at New Plymouth, and his mounts include Calamine, Easter Time, Melissa, and Tenteall. Calapat has been performing well on the tracks. He is to be given a run in the. Atiawa Cup, one mile and 110 yards, at New Plymouth. He has galloped seven furlongs on three occasions recently in particularly good time. Goblin Market has been schooling well, and should run well in the hurdle races at New Plymouth. The'Bisogne gelding Homewood, in W. Pine's stable, has also" been shaping well, and is to have his first try-out over the obstacles on Boxing Day. He has plenty of pace and jumps well. H. Mills has been schooling him, and is to have the ride. Bonognc is making a good recovery, and, all going well, will start at New Plymouth. A two-year-old that has made marked improvement is the Nigger Minstrel — Left youngster, Peter Jacksou, in J. Fryer's stable. Peter Jackson has had barrier practice, and goes out quickly. M. Conway has two in the Atiawa Cup, Joyspear and Gasnapper. Both have been galloping well, the latter having displayed distinct improvement in his track performances. L. Manson has been engaged to ride Joyspear. Green Linnet has been suffering from a, pricked foot, but has practically recov- j ered. The little Tonbridge filly is other- j wise very well. W. Pine's two mares, Calamine and Tenteall, are in fine shape, and will give a good account of themselves in their races. Chief Link is to race at New Plymouth and Stratford, and with the tracks in fast order may have to be reckoned with. A race should work a great improvement in this big fellow, who is rapidly getting into shape. Tenacre has freshened up nicely, and is to, race at Stratford. He was given a schooling bout, yesterday., Biflex has been accomplishing light j tasks, and, though small, has improved considerably and is very well. .' A. J. M'Cormac has been engaged to ' ride Silver Rule in her races. Denier is in splendid racing condition j and jumping well. He will have to be taken into consideration lor the hurdle races at Stratford.
