LANG THE TAX-GATHERER
SYDNEY, 18th December. Taxpayers of New South Wales . received another shock to-day when tha statement was published that the Lang Government is considering a direct levy of two shillings in the pound on all incomes over an amount yet to be? determined, in addition to the shilling in the pound tax already passed byj the Assembly. The Bill increasing the wages t'as from 3d to Is in the £1 passed1 all' stages of the State Assembly to-day.
