WAR RELIEF
EXECUTIVE MEETING
The executive of the War Belief Association of Wellington met yesterday. Mr. L. O. H. Tripp presided, land there were also present Messrs. A. Macintosh, G. Mitchell, S. J. Harrison, C. M. Luke, and A. O. Leach (secretary). The Applications Committee met on three occasions since the Executive Committee last met, and 235 applications had been received, comprising 13 claims from men who had not previously approached the committee and 215 applications from others who had done so. During- the period under review, the Emergency Committee'met on 13 occasions, and dealt with 54 of the applications received, 179 claims being disposed of by the. Applications Committee, and 98 other applications were still under action. Tbo total number of. applications received during the period under review—including those submitted to the Finance Committee —thus amounted to 233. The number of persons who called at the ofllco was ."09; of these 24.5 applied for direct and C'J for indirect assistance. The Finance Committee held one ordinary and three emergency menings since the Executive Committee last met, and in. addition, to its ordinary junction of controlling the financial affairs of the association, dealt with six applications for 'assistance by way of loans. Four of these were old applications requiring revision of the original conditions, whilst the> remaining two, Jjoth new applications, 'were declined.
