SANDERS CUP

The selection of,' the Betty as Wellington's representative at the Sanders Cup contest at Dunediu in February was announced at last cloning's meeting of the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motorboat Association. According to a resolution passed by the association before the local trials commenced, the skipper of,the selected boat, Mr. A. Johnson, will be in charge of the Betty at the contest. ' The Betty won tbc Sanders Cup, the blue riband of yachting in the Domiuion, three times for Canterbury. She was purchased last season by Mr. W. 11. Wagstafl, commodore of the Kvans Bay Yacht and Mo-tor-boat Chili, and competed in the recent cup trials with signal success, winning three out of the four races in a convincing manner. The pole .selector, Mr. W. Duncan, was appointed manager and one of the delegates. A ballot for the position of second delegate resulted in the election of Mr. P. Scott Ramsay. In reply to a question, the secretary, 1 Mr. E. J. Wilscn, said that Mr. Duncan intended to confer with Mr. Johnson _as soon as' possible in regard to the selection of the crew. | On the motion of Mr. F. C. Holmes, it was decided to send a letter of congratulation to Sir. V/agstaff and Mr. Johnson, and a letter of thanks to Mr. Duncan for his services as selector.
