RELEASED FROM PRISON
Ou 25th November last. Tame Bopu, formerly a farmer of Chatham Islands, now a farm labourer of Uruti, Taranaki, was committed to the New Plymouth Prison for disobeying an order oE the Native Land Court, which had been filed in the Supreme Court for. enforcement. The committal was the result of Kopu leaving a number of sheep ou land at the Chatham Islands belonging to Henry Daymond. In an affidavit Kopu said that when he put the sheep on the land he believed he was entitled to do so. Since his arrest he had done all in his'power to comply with the injunction, but haying no money and experiencing difficulty in getting other laud, he was not successful in obeying the order until recently. He had now been informed that the sheep had been removed. Mr. Justice Ostler to-day granted a motion asking for Eopu's discharge after twenty-four days in prison. Kopu was ordered to pay 23 guineas costs and disbursements.
