PETONE SCHOOL WORKS
The Petone Borough Council last hight approved of the supervision by the borough cnginer (Mr. C. L. Jackson) of the construction of a tennis «;ourt at the Wilford School. The cost nf the work was given as £60, £20 irom the School Committee and a subsidy of £40 granted by the Unemployment Board. It was anticipated the job^ would give work to about ten Unemployed. The assistance of the council's, offipirrs was mlso granted to the Petone West Home :uul School. Association, which has £20. which it is hoped will be subsidised by £-10. With the £60 it is proposed to top-druss the Sschool tennis and basketball courts, and & do some fencing.
