NEW ZEALAND UNION CLAIM
PROTEST IN SYDNEY
United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Eeeeived 16th December, S a.m.) SYDNEY, 15th December. At a meeting of the New South Wales Kugby Union to-night, a letter was read from the New Zealand Union intimating its acceptance of 40 per cent. of the profits of tho British Bugby tour in Australia. Accordingly, New South Wales's share of the remainder will be £329, but Victoria and Queensland have losses. No comment, was made upon the letter. Commenting on the action of the New Zealand Kugby Union in insisting upon the Australian unions remitting to New Zealand 40 per cent, of the gross gate receipts of the British Bugby matches played here, the "Sun" newspaper registers a strong protest. It directs attention to the fact that New Zealand derived an enormous profit of £30,000 from that tour.. The newspaper adds that it was confidently expected that the Australian States would have been permitted to retain the whole of the small profits made here, thus enabling Queensland and Victoria to balance their ledgers. "The repeated professions of the New Zealand Union that it is keen to foster the game in Queensland and Victoria are shown to be merely matters of words. New Zealand's attitude calls for the strongest criticism, and is indeed likely to mar the friendly relations oxisting between Australian and New Zealand bodies," states tho article. x
