MISS MERCEDES GLEITZE

NOTED SWIMMER ARRIVES

Miss Mercedes, Gleitze, whose remarkable swimming feats have so often brought her under public notice, arrived by the Corinthic to-day from England, the main object of her trip being an attempt to swim Cook Strait. Miss Gleitze is accompanied by her husband, Mr. P. Carey, who assists her in all her swimming events, and it was their intention when they left England "to be away six months. On her return to the Old Country Miss Gleitze will accept the invitation of the Galway Chamber of Commerce to swim from Giilway lo Arran Island., a distance of 2S miles. Miss Gleitze's natatorial triumphs include the Hellespont, tho English Channel, and thn Straits of Gibraltar.
