OTAGO BEATS CANTERBURY

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, 7th December. The third dirt track motor-cycle race meeting of the season was held at Monica Park last night. The weather was beautifully fine, and the attendance large. Most of the races were well contested. There were several falls. S. R. Russell (Canterbury) in the first match _of the inter-provincial contest, fell when in front of the grandstand. It was a bad fall, but Russell had no more serious hurt than a broken collarbone. Other riders who fell were unhurt. With a total of 27 points, Otago beat Canterbury, in a series of nine matches. Other results were:— South Island Invitation Championship, one mile.-^Flrst heat: Alangham, 1; Blair, 2. Time, Imin 29 3-ssec. Second heat: March, 1; Black-lock, 2. Time, Imin 23 4-ssec. Final: March, 1; Mangham, 2. Time, Imin 31 3-ssec. Mangham fell'when In a winning position. Speedway Handicap, one •mile. —Final: J. T. Oakley (Bsec), 1; F. C. Blley. (llsec), 2; E. Brown (ssec) and N. E. Neill (scr), dead heat, 3. Time, Imin 36 3-ssec.
