Conditions could hardly have been better at Miramar on Saturday when the interclub championships entered their second round. The seniors -were playing, and Brougham Hill and Tliorndon gained easy victories over their opponents, University ' ami Newtown. At one. stage Brougham Hill hud not lost a match, but in the mixed doubles the University players .put up a hard n Sbt, and two of the matches were drawn because ol the late hour. R. io-iig did best of the Um--rersitv players, finishing the day _ undefeated" and paining a f-'ood win in h.s double against T. S. AAnluuns and 8. The' Thorndon-Ncu-town encounter saw some even matches. The event was marked by the win of Miss M Prcedy oT ei Miss* M. East, previously Wellington singles champion, who is coming back to the game after some time. .Mis* while playing with Miss Preedj,- vas rtruck^n thf eye with a ball whushhxt his glasses and cut him some*-hat badly.
