CASE OF SHOPLIFTING
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Described by the police as one of the professional unemployed, Leo Robert Clark (22), a painter, was remanded this morning to appear on Monday on a charge of stealing goods valued at 2s 6d, the property of Woolworth's, Ltd. "There was no excuse for the offnnce," said Cliief-Detoetivo Carroll. "He pleaded poverty on his arrest, but when he was searched £64 9s lOd was found in his possession." "There is too much shop-lifting goijig on," said the Magistrate (Mr. H. P. Lawry), during the hearing of the case. v
