CATHOLIC CHARITY TIIETURNING POINT
"An event of great interest and significance, v\vhich took place in this city during the year, was tho friendly conference between representatives of the Bible in Schools League and the .Roman Catholic Hierarchy," said'tho Kcv. E. D. Patchett (chairman) at the Welling-, ton District Synod of, the Methodist Church yesterday. "As a result of a ' frank and full discussion of tho problem from the standpoint of both par-1 ties, an agreement was reached. This I means much more than tho withdrawal of an obstacle in the path of thoso who seek an adequate religious training for tho Protestant children of our primary schools. It also means the removal of an irritant from the religious lifo of tho Dominion, for which all lovers of peace and goodwill must be devoutly thankful. "If and when the Bible in Schools party attain their objective, it may perhaps bo recognised that the turning point in the long and difficult canipaign was reached, when a. conference of eight met in the Presbytery in Hill street and found a charity that was big enough to overleap all barriers in the interests of Christ's little ones."
