On 3rd ■■ November the amount of the Australian aote issue -was £45.103,426, and the gold reserve held by the Commonwealth against those notes was £15,255,----193, ■representing 33.85.per cent, of the note issue. The legislation which governs the Australian note issue provides that there shall be held "in gold coin ;i reserve of not less than one-fourth of the amount of Australian notes issued."
