TUNNEY WINS AGAIN
VERDICT OVER MARA
CLAIM FOR SHARE OP RING
PROFITS
NEW YORK, 11th November. Gene, Tunney, the ex-heavyweight champion of the world, won a verdict over Tim Mara, sports promoter, who sued the ex-champion for half a million dollars as 17-S per cent, share of the latter's ring earnings. The trial, which lasted almost a fortnight, was punctuated by the introduction of sensational evidence, showing that important political figures were influenced to permit certain bouts in which Tunney participated, and that the latter's earnings for the last few years of his fighting career were several million dollars annually.
