AT ADDINGTON
TWO FINE CONTESTS
TROTTING CUP DIVISIONS
HOW KOHAKA WON HIS HEAT
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURCH, 11th Nov. Kohara won the first division of the New Zealand Trotting Cup at Addington yesterday in good style, as he outstayed Terence Dillon at the finish. Kohara won the Cup in 1927, and has never looked in better shape. He is now trained in Auckland by S. Groat, who has been in the sport for a number of years. All his early- racing was done when he was in J. Bryce's stable, and the , Oakhampton trainer drove him in his latest effort. He looks like playing an important part in the final. Terence Dillon made most of the running in the race, and this fact may have j left him without any dash at the end. He looked to be pulling very hard in the early stages. The Oamaru pacer is right at the top of his form at present, and there is little between him and his victor. Driven a different race Terence Dillon may beat Kohara in the final. Author Jinks's performance in finishing fourf was full of merit. The little pacer went out badly, and had to be hard driven to get near the leaders. It speaks well for his stamina that under the circumstances he qualified, for the final. .- King Pointer, the third horse, had every chance, but he failed just at the point where he was expected to be at his best — over the last half-mile. Unless the race improves him he can hardly hope to suc, ceed in the final. Padlock broke up at the start, and took no part in the race.
