BACK FROM ENGLAND
NEW ZEALAND AIRMAN
SQUADRONrLEADEE FINDLAY
After an eighteen, months' refresher course in England, Squadron-Leader J. Findlay, of Christchurch, returned to New. Zealand to-day, by the Tamaroa, accompanied by his wife and young son. Whilst in England the airman studied all modern phases.of aviation, and in particular, those likely to have a bearing on the progress of aviation in the Dominion. Day and night bombing, construction work of all kinds, and parachute .. descents were amongst the aspects of aviation studied. Opportunity was taken to inspect all the main aircraft factories, and. just before leaving for New Zealand a test was made of the autogyro which is being shipped to Wellington. "As I had not been Home since--1921," said Squadron-Leader Findlay this morning, "you can imagine tho changes I found in aircraft and aviation. I naturally oxpeeted to find considerable progress had been made since my last visit, but what I actually did see amazed mo. The strides that aviation has made are nothing short of amazing, and make ono realise how far we are behind times in New Zealand." Squadron-Leader Findlay was lucky enough to sco two of tho big aerial pageants, and also to be a spectator of the Schneider Cup race.
