CRICKET TOURISTS

! ■ ♦ .. . ■ "WEST INDIES TEAM'S VISIT The latest advice regarding the West [Indies ciickel team is that the members are eagerly looking forward to the opportunity 6£ playing in Wellington next Wednesday and Thursday as a preliminary to their matches in Australia. The team is on the Tamapoa, which is due in Wellington early on Wednesday morning. Included in the touring team are a number of the players who visited England in 11928, among them L. N". Constantino, who now plays as a professional in England during the cricket season there. ' G. C. Grant, of Cambridge University, is the captain of the side, and he. too, did well in England last season, while G. Headley accomplished some notable feats with the bat against the M.C.C. team which visited the West Indies recently. One of Headley's achievements was the registration of a double century in the fourth Teat, and he also scored a -century in each innings of one o£ the other Tests. A strong side is likely to be fielded by the visitors at the Basin Reserve on Wednesday and Thursday, and against them will be a good Wellington team, including players who have represented New Zealand and who have had experience of big cricket in England. Also in the Wellington team are several colts. On both sides there should be enterprising batting, and the attack is expected to be backed up by keen work in tlie field.
