SERIOUSLY HURT

MOTOR-CYCLE ACCIDENT

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, 7th November.

Severe'injuries to Ms head were received by Harold Dryden when a motorcycle and side-car capsized on the Eazorback Hill this evening. Dryden, who was in the side-car, was taken by service car to the Auckland Hospital. His condition at a late hour this evening was very serious. The driver of the motor-cycle, Arthur Douglas Merson, of Epsoin, escaped unhurt. Two passing motor-cars, it is alleged, took no notice of the accident, a service car having to leave four passengers, including two women, on the roadside to accommodate the injured man. Dryden, who is the owner of the motor-cycle, left National Park, where he has been .employed at The Chateau, in company with Merson for Auckland this morning. Merson changed places with him near Huntly. When descending the Bazorback Hill, near the Bombay end, the cycle skidded in loose metal at a sharp bend and capsized, Dryden's head being wedged under the saddle of the machine. The injured man was picked up by a service car from New Plymouth, which was met en route to Auckland by Dr. L. J. F. Bull, of Pukekohe, who gave medical assistance. The car then made a quick run to the hospital.
