FOR THE KIDDIES
Until quite recently, tho publication of books for children was confined' mainly to Christmas. Now, however, there is a steady output all the year round of reading for juveniles, and some of it is very high class. For instance, a new children's book is "The Life Story of a Little Monkey," from the pen of Ferdinand Ossendowski, the great Polish author whoso books about his war experiences have fascinated two continents. Mr. Ossendowski writes this book in the first person, the little monkey telling her own life story. This is really a delightful book, for the author has managed to convey a great deal of authentic information about the habits of monkeys while writing a romance of the jungle. Chimpanzee Kate, the heroine, ultimately finds herself in ' a circus, and the record of her circus life is just as attractive as that of her early days in the forest. The charm of tho book is enhanced by the illustrations.
