» . ASSOCIATION OF AUTHORITIES The Electric Power Board and SupplyAuthorities' Association. Bill for the purpose of establishing an association, of electric power boards and municipal electric lighting authorities as a bodycorporate was passed by the House of Eepresentatives to-day. Moving the second reading, Mr. J. A. Nash (Reform, Pahnorston North) explained that the Bill provided for the constitution of an association to watch the interests of electrical supply authorities. ■ . The Leader of the ■ Opposition (the Right Hon. J. G. Coates) asked if other local bodies were provided for in such a complete manner as was1 provided in the Bill. Mr. P. Fraser (Labour, Wellington Central) said Mr. Nash was asking just a little too much to ask the- House to pass the Bill without being in possession of fuller information. Mr. J. A. Young (Reform, Hamilton) said the Bill was establishing a new principle, and it should have been referred to the Local Bills Committee for investigation. Mr. A. E. Jull (United, Waipawa) said the Counties' Association had worked for 30 years without an Act. Replying, Mr. Nasb. said no objection had been raised to tlio Bill by Government Departments. The Bill was put through'all its stages and passed.
