ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIA
PROGRESS OF RIVALS

LONDON, 7th October.
Plying Officer Chabot and Major Pickthorne, who left Croydon oh 6th October in a de Haviland Puß3 Moth in an attempt to establish a new EnglandAustralia flying record, have landed at Stamboul. On the way from Croydon they landed at Zemun, a. village in Jugoslavia, after the worst, passage knowa to either. By alternatively taking over the controls and" flying during the night as well as during the day, they hope to reach Australia in seven days. No wireless is carried, but the equipment includes a collapsible fabric boat inflated by hand pump. - The route is divided into nine stages, of which the longest is 1500 miles.
A message from Budapest states that C. H. Hill, who also is engaged in a flight to Australia, has arrived.
