Voicing the opinion that tho disaster to the British ElOl would not have occurred had non-inflammable helium been used instead of hydrogen gas, Mr. Britten, Chairman of the.House of Kepresentatives Naval Affairs Committee, announced that ho would .sponsor legislation next Congress to permit tho exportation of helium for use in the dirigibles of foreign Governments. Ho said ho favoured cither permitting' foreign Governments to establish plants in the United States or the increasing of the facilities in the country so' that the product could be sold at cost.
The present law prohibits the export of helium.
