NAVY LEAGUE MEETING
A meeting of the Wellington branch of the Navy League was held yesterday, Mr. J. H. Fowler presiding. The Wellington Competitions Society wrote thanking the League for a donation of £3 3s towards its funds.
The executive of the Navy League, London, sent greetings from the president and committee in connection with Nelson Day celebrations. A cable message is to be sent from the Now Zealand Navy League to London before the annual dinner at London on 21st October.
A letter received from the Canterbury branch in connection with an art union was in favour of the proposal. It was stated that the president of the Canterbury branch was not present at the meeting when the matter was considered, but he objected most strongly to an art union being held. ,
A flag from the Navy League is to be presented to Scots College by His Excellency,, the. G6vernoi>G en eral at Scots College on, Saturday, 11th October, at 3 p.m.
The secretary reported that branches of the Navy. League had been formed at St. Mary .of the Angels! Con vent •i a Aro street and at the Northland Convent. A lecture had been on the Navy League at Wellesley College, and Kelburn aud Terrace primary schools would also be addressed. The' subject of inter-Empire trade would be dealt with in the lectures.
